(Expert Meeting) Biogas Production and Utilization in Gangwon State

Prof. SungKu Heo, SeonJu Kim, and SangGu Yun from the Greenest A.I. Lab organized an expert meeting on biogas production and utilization strategies for Gangwon State, supported by the Gangwon Green Environment Center at Kangwon National University. The meeting brought together local government officials, industry professionals, researchers, and academic experts to exchange perspectives on integrated biogas production and utilization from organic waste resources and to discuss approaches tailored to the regional characteristics of Gangwon State. The meeting featured presentations on the current status and policy direction of biogas production and utilization in Gangwon State, decentralized integrated biogas facilities and waste-to-energy systems, energy-efficient nitrogen removal technologies for anaerobic digestate, and strategies for producing high-value carbon products from biogas. The presentations were followed by a panel discussion chaired by Prof. SungKu Heo, where participants discussed practical challenges, regional needs, and future directions for biogas production and utilization. The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives across local government, industry, research institutes, and academia and to explore future directions for sustainable and region-specific biogas production and utilization in Gangwon State.
